Academy OverviewMixin' With Beats Academy

The Mixin' with Beats Academy is the premier program under Robinson & Powell Associates of Hampton Roads, Incorporated, a non-profit organization. It offers uniquely designed career pathways for the youth in our local community. The academy introduces students to the fundamental concepts of the disc jockey experience. It provides weekly hands-on workshops, utilizing music to connect students to science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM). Participants explore a variety of career modules associated with the field of music. Academy participants engage in project and performance-based learning stations that take them from the history of a disc jockey to demonstrating their skills with a culminating performance. In addition, the academy strengthens leadership capacity by structuring a learning environment that cultivates critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, and citizenship. Mixin' with Beats Academy is FREE for all participants.
